Support Sargent's Bay Yacht Club

SBYC is many things: a home away from home; a place where you, your kids or your parents learned to sail; an adult-free zone; a badge of honour for surviving without running water, road access, electricity or a real bathroom all summer; the place you met your best friend and learned English or French; but the common thread is that it is a community.

This club was built in 1935 by people who loved to sail and wanted their children to have their own place to develop this passion. The reason this camp is still up and running is because of the dedicated community of volunteers who make this possible, by getting together to set up, maintain and close it down every season. Beyond this, it also requires investments in improvements.

This year, we bought new docks and set up a new system for storing our boats, that will help the boats live a longer life and make it safer for the kids at camp. Next year, the club house (or as we like to call it, the shack), which was built by the founding families and - miraculously - still stands today, will likely need some updates, and the boats will need to be repaired or replaced.

The kids like to sing, “we’re the dudes from Sargent’s Bay, we don’t sit around and play,” so please contribute so we can get to work improving the camp for future generations.

Thank you!
