Sam was recently diagnosed with stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma of the left lung and lymph node.
As someone who loves Sam dearly, it breaks my heart to see how medical bills, (even with health coverage) for his chemotherapy and radiation treatments are adding up. Sam is unable to work as he battles this disease. The costs that are incurring are quickly becoming more than the family can handle. Although Leslee is still working full time, this makes the costs of these treatments impossible for them to manage without help.
Sam is a very strong but quiet man. He has always been there to help others in their time of need. Sam's two best friends, Mark and Jim, both battled this same evil disease and sadly, it took both their lives.
Sam hosted a benefit for Jim and participated and contributed to both of his friends medical funds. Additionally, Sam and Leslee annually participate and donate to the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. Ironically, even though Sam will not ask for help, he needs it.
It is our turn to help a man that has never asked for anything, but freely gave everything he could, while watching his two best friends succumb to the same disease he is fighting now.
I know that the holidays are upon us, and money is tight for us all, but it is important to remember that we are healthy and we will have a wonderful holiday. Sam, on the other hand, is fighting for his life. Sam needs our help with the cost of ongoing cancer treatments. Could you find it in your hearts to help a wonderful man fight and beat cancer? Any help that you could provide towards the rising cost of treatments would be truly appreciated.
I would like to thank everyone that has been here for me/Leslee. It means so much to know I have this support system. Leslee and I have donated and gave much support through gofundme but never thought we would ever need it for us. I was quite upset when I found out Wendy set this up for us. I felt terrible accepting handouts and pretty much felt like the biggest loser in the world when I finally realized that I actually needed it. So, thank you, Wendy and everyone, that helped us. It means more to me than I could ever put in words.
Didn't want it, hard to accept still and so very blown away by you all. Sam and I can't thank you all enough for being so generous to us. We're thankful for friends we've known forever and those we've never met. We are trying very hard to remember all the times we've clicked the same button, but it's so difficult. A friend posted that we are good people and surround ourselves with good people, and after seeing this and the prayers and well wishes....well, we are convinced. Thank you so much for being such a blessing in our lives. We promise to give it all we've got! Much love, Sam & Leslee xoxoxox
