Introduction
I have been playing rugby since my sophomore year of college at the University of Oregon. After playing for three years at UO and becoming captain my senior year, I transitioned into playing women's premiere league rugby with Oregon Rugby Sports Union (ORSU) in Portland, OR. Going into my 5th season as a rugby player and second season with ORSU, I'm proud to say that this will be my first year as a Vice-Captain for the team.
Over the past 5 years, rugby has facilitated my continuous development and growth. Playing this sport has helped me find my voice amongst peers, has given me physical and mental resiliency, has fostered my love of leadership, and has given me both an emotional outlet throughout the difficulties in my life as well as a wonderful support system of teammates, friends, and family.
Funds Allocations
Unfortunately, as ORSU is a self-funded club, all plane tickets for away games and other necessary expenses are put out by the players directly. This has been particularly hard for me as this season also marks my first year of medical school at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, OR. Because I am currently attending classes and paying for a very expensive medical school tuition, I am having trouble finding the funds to be able to afford plane tickets to travel with ORSU for games and to travel to our National Championships for this season.
I love this team and I love this sport and I would really love the opportunity to continue playing at such a high level in the WPL while remaining a committed medical student. Donations from this account will go directly towards buying plane tickets to travel to away games for this season and will help in sending me to the national championships at the end of October. Please help me in continuing my journey as a WPL rugby player!
