First of all, thank you for taking the time to read our story. We are Liam & Loura - Meraki Dance Collective - 2 passionate professional dancers and dance teachers.
We at MDC believe that dance is a universal language and a way to connect with anyone, anywhere, anyplace on this beautiful planet. We also experience that dance is an artistic way to express oneself and we are grateful to guide our students through this special process. This can be done on any level, at any age, and in any style.
We have received an amazing opportunity to be part of "ConfiDance". ConfiDance is a project aimed to provide dance workshops all over the Karnataka state in India. In a time span of 2 months, we will travel throughout the state and visit around 15 different places. Best of all, everyone can join for free!! The organisation asks no fees from the participants. If that doesn’t make you smile... how about you join in the fun? This is possible through an exclusive live streaming of all the dance workshops.
The team will be a combination of local and international teachers. Together we will be able to provide a wide spectrum of dance styles. As you may have noticed from the name, we will be focussing on gaining confidence and a positive self-esteem through dance. In our experience, dance has always been an exceptional way to process feelings, mental conflicts and everyday events in a safe and positive environment.
To make this project a reality for us we need your help. The organization only has enough funds to cover the basic expenses on location (which is provided by local sponsors). The GoFundMe campaign will finance all other expenses, such as; transport, visa, and accommodation. Our target is an estimation of the remaining costs. Meraki Dance Collective hopes to continue their contribution in art, dance, and education throughout the globe.
To conclude, Meraki is a Greek word for doing something with soul, creativity, or love — when you put “something of yourself” into what you’re doing, whatever it may be. This is what we stand for, this inspires us every day.
