Support Lloyd's medical expenses

Over the last 5 years, my father Lloyd has struggled with a chronic neuro-dermatological disease which has severely impacted his quality of life. As a teacher of underprivileged kids in the K-12 system for 20 years, Lloyd helped thousands of students graduate on time and find pathways to success while overcoming personal and family challenges which impacted their education.

Around 5 years ago, Lloyd sustained a head injury which triggered the onset of severe psoriasis and neurodermatitis. Although he has been to dozens of doctors around the state of Oregon seeking adequate care and treatment, many of the symptoms are difficult to manage and cause chronic pain and discomfort. Neurodermatitis symptoms can vary widely in severity, and the causes of the condition are poorly understood.

We continue to seek medical and psychiatric care which will help him find less painful ways of managing the symptoms, and improve his quality of life. This month Lloyd is making another trip to OHSU to pursue alternate treatment plans.

The disease causes him to suffer invisibly every day, and has brought with it severe anxiety and depression which exacerbate the symptoms of the disease. 

Since he retired as a public school teacher he has been living on fixed income. The disease has impacted his ability to find gainful employment while treating his symptoms. We are now seeking to reduce his medical debt and meet rental costs, as Lloyd pursues a path to better treatment and relocation to another area where he will have better access to adequate care than he can receive while living in Southern Oregon.
