On Saturday, July 7th, Leanne was involved in an accident while on a bike ride in Winnipeg. She suffered a spinal cord injury which has left her paralyzed from the waist down at the young age of 25. Luckily, there is no brain damage and she still has full use of her upper body. She has begun physiotherapy but her road to recovery will be a long one and she needs all of our support.

Anyone who is lucky enough to know Leanne could tell you just how incredible she really is. She's a fighter and she is doing so well through all of this. She is still very much the same Leanne we all know and love.

We're asking you all to come together to help financially support Leanne and her family through this tough time. When accidents like this happen, there are a lot of immediate and unexpected expenses. While things like rehab and physio are covered, there will be a lot of expensive, out-of-pocket costs like home and vehicle modifications, various equipment, transportation and rooming for her family to visit from Ontario, etc.

A little bit can go a long way so let's rally together for Leanne!

Thank you for all the kind words and support!

Background information:

My name is Devon and Leanne was a colleague of mine that quickly became one of my best friends (practically family - she even calls me mom haha). While I've since moved back home to Ontario after spending almost two years out in Winnipeg with her, Leanne and I have maintained our close friendship. I was heartbroken when I heard about what happened but to see her smiling and hear her positivity has been so uplifting and inspiring. Please be assured that your donations will be used to support Leanne's road to recovery. While things like rehab and physio are covered by the province of Manitoba, there are plenty of out-of-pocket costs associated with this life-changing injury. Your donation will go towards a wheelchair accessible vehicle and home, travel and board for her parents & sister to visit from Ontario, special exercise and home equipment, etc. We want to do as much to help Leanne be able.
