THEIR STORY
Joe and Kathleen –“Kath,” to her closest friends – have been married for 17 years; both remain fully and deeply in love, which has helped them through many of Kath’s medical crises. Now, though, love is not enough.
Since 2011, Kath had a pulmonary embolism and continues to suffer debilitating strokes and a host of other health issues. In 2014 we almost lost her when she was found unconscious from a stroke. Recently, she spent over a month in a rehabilitation facility, learning how to walk and take care of herself again. Now home, she requires daily care from a caregiver while Joe is at work. Kathleen is a strong, proud, loving woman who is fighting daily to regain control over her life. The care giver says her progress is slow and the road ahead is long.
WHAT’S NEEDED
The home care provider costs $600 per week; Medicare and their regular health plan do not cover these costs. Other costs associated with Kath’s long term medical care and recovery include: daily oxygen intake, on-going doctor’s visits, blood thinner medicine, and possible surgery for a prolapsed rectum.
Joe and Kath are doing the best they can and family is helping when and how we can. But the costs are greater than any of us can cover.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Donate, if you can. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will be used to further Kath’s care and for current and future medical expenses.
Help spread the word to other distant family members, friends, and others who know Joe and Kath socially.
Those of you who know Joe and Kath know they are always among the first to help others in need and the last to ask for help themselves. For those of you who don’t know them, you’d love them both if you ever met them. They are: parent and step-parent to 3 great young men; doting grandparents to 2; a cherished son and daughter-in-law; much loved brother and sister to 4 siblings; regular members of their local church, have a strong faith in God and believe that miracles can happen; rock and roll and hockey enthusiasts; and so much more!
All the funds will go directly to Joe and Kathleen for her medical care.
