Support Gracin + Her Amazing Family

Donation protected

Please join us in supporting the Hahne family during this season. Gracin's surgeries will require the Hahnes to stay in Palo Alto for at least a month and require David to take extensive time off work. We'd like finances to be the least of their concerns right now and we'd love to enable them to rent a comfortable and private home. In addition, these funds can help cover living expenses so they can rest and recuperate as they care for Gracin and their sweet baby boy, Lucas. In this season of giving, we hope you will join us in supporting this dear family and bring additional reminders that they are not alone, but are loved by God and their community.

From Gracin's brave and beautiful mom, Heidi:

Our amazing 3 year-old daughter, Gracin June Hahne, was born with a rare genetic disease called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). It was discovered on November 11, 2012 during our 20 week ultrasound, when my OBGYN found "tubers" (benign tumors) in our daughter's heart. Gracin was officially diagnosed with this complicated and progressive disease when she was three months old after I witnessed her first seizure (a major symptom of TSC) while changing her diaper. Tuberous Sclerosis has many debilitating symptoms including tubers that grow in every major organ in the body. These tubers are detrimental to the growth and development of a child, and can also be life-threatening.

Tubers are the symptom of TSC that Gracin has struggled with the most in her short life thus far. Gracin has tubers in her heart, kidneys, skin, and brain. The tubers in her brian are causing clinical and subclinical seizures that are currently attacking the language part of Gracin's brain. After breaking through her medications a year ago with severe seizures and hospitalizations, David and I noticed that her speech turned into jargon, and her words and sentences became almost unrecognizable.

After a year of testing, medications, hospitalizations, and an enormous amount of praying and waiting, Gracin will be having the first of potentially two brain surgeries at Stanford Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, California. Please join David and I in prayer on December 9th, as Gracin undergoes an extensive and invasive brain surgery to map and identify the tubers that are causing the seizures responsible for her language and comprehension regression. If this goes as expected, she will have a second brain surgery to take out these tubers. We are told the entire process with pre-op, surgeries, and recovery will take two months, bringing us to the end of January, 2017.

David and I wholeheartedly trust and believe that God loves our daughter even more than we do, and that with His strength, and the support of our community, we will not only get through this difficult season... but that He will be glorified and Gracin's quality of life, redeemed!
