It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I update this page. On May 22, 2017 just one short week of
learning of her diagnosis, Kelly lost her battle against breast cancer at the age of 30.

Some of you might be new to this page and just recently learned of this family.  If so, let me tell you about the Owchars.  Kelly and her husband Dwayne have 3 adorable children together - Eric, 2, and twin daughters, Lauren and Leah, born in March of this year.  After experiencing symptoms of fatigue (what new mom isn't?), a breast lump (which Kelly assumed was a blocked duct from breastfeeding), and occasional abdominal discomfort, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer with liver metastases.  All of this occured while one of the twins was recovering in the ICU at the Children's hospital from a respiratory infection.  Even though the cancer was rapidly spreading throughout her, Kelly didn't let it take over until she knew that her baby girl was okay and back at home with her family.

It all seems so sudden, unfair, and completely devastating. She fought a very courageous battle, all while putting the needs of her family before hers. But now, more than ever, this family needs our help.
Her husband, parents, sisters and extended family now have the huge responsibility of raising these 3 children - 2 of which are just barely 10 weeks old - while preserving Kelly's memory and battling their own grief.

Kelly was such a beautiful soul - so kind, generous, and always found something to laugh or smile about. Even when faced with the huge challenge of 3 children under 2, she just radiated pride and love about her growing family. She had a huge compassionate heart.  She was so kind, and everyone loved her - you could always strike up a conversation with Kelly, and the topic of conversation usually always came back to her family.

As we move forward in remembering and honoring Kelly, let's get behind this family as they begin this long road of healing. Please consider making a donation - and if you have already donated, please consider donating again.

Kelly bravely wrote about her experiences, thoughts and emotions on a heartwrenching and honest blog post. If you didn't know her, you can get a glimpse into the kind, devoted and caring person she was.  A mother. Wife.  Daughter.  Sister.  Nurse.  Friend. You are encouraged to read all about this amazing family's journey at:

Let's try to ease some of their financial burdens so they can focus on learning how to live without Kelly. Any size
donation helps and is much appreciated. Kelly and Dwayne were so grateful for what they have already received, so let's continue to send as much love and support as we can.
