Support for Mimi Hernandez

Mimi Hernandez a much loved member of the herbal community is in need of our support. Mimi has been experiencing severe pain for several months and earlier this week the pain became unbearable. 

On June 6, 2018 Mimi's wrote on her facebook page "Long arduous night at Mission Hospital ER. Surgery later today. Thank you for your good thoughts. Gallby’s finally coming out sooner than planned and he’s bursting at the seams about it. Just don’t burst inside me Gallby."

Mimi had been trying to work with diet and natural remedies to avoid and/or postpone surgery.  On June 6th the pain was more than she was able to handle and as she says above she was hospitalized. She has had surgery and another procedure done and is now in recovery.  Recovery from any surgery takes time and rest is the best prescription. 

Like so many people Mimi does not have health coverage. She will need to pay for her surgery out of pocket. This is a position many who work in the herbal world and healing professions in general face. Mimi put this surgery off, until she was in unbearable pain and could not tolerate it any more. No one should have to endure this kind of pain, and postpone surgery that will provide relief because they do not have the financial resources to pay for it.

Mimi is a single mother. She supports her family doing something that she loves and cares about: providing educational resources to the herbal community.  Anyone who encounters Mimi can see that she is dedicated to the plants and the people who work with them. She has given a lot and it is our turn to support her. 

As we all know working in the helping/healing professions is not a lucrative endeavor. This one hospitalization has the capacity to create incredible amounts of financial stress when what Mimi needs is peace and rest.  While there are larger issues to be tackled in our health care system, Mimi is in need of our support now. Helping her to pay this bill, will help her to continue serving the herbal community, will support her family by allowing her to use her resources for daily living expenses rather than money going in the direction of the medical establishment.
