Late this morning, Mike Nylund, an IBEW lineman here in Anchorage, had an electrical contact while working near O'Malley Road with Northern Powerline Constructors.

Mike was immediately transported to Providence Hospital and has now been sent on to Harborview Medical Center in Washington.

I spoke with Mike at the hospital right before LifeMed picked him up to fly out and he was awake and talkative.  Initially it appears he has a left hand entrance wound and burns and possibly lower right knee and exit wound.  The extent is unknown at this time.

We will keep brother Nylund in our thoughts and prayers and pass along any information or updates we receive.

WE ARE GOING HOME!!!!!! We have one more appointment in the morning and then we can leave! The dead spot isn't very deep and you can see healthy tissue under it. Praise God! He starts therapy after we get back and has his first follow up appointment in two weeks, but, we don't have to go back to Seattle. Modern technology is amazing, we will be seen online. Thank you for all your prayers. Alaska we have missed you!!!!!

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, ........ James 1:2

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. We are in a beautiful hotel waiting on healing. We had a checkup last Friday and they cleaned out the knee, took the foam off the donor site (where they took the skin from his thigh for his hand and wrist) and cleaned out his arm/hand/wrist. Most of the skin graft has taken, praise the Lord! Their is one spot a little bit bigger than a quarter that has dead tissue. We are debrising it daily. Thursday is our next check up and we will see what they say. We don't know how deep it is. So our two options for Friday are: 1. That it looks good and we can go home after that appointment. 2. They will have to do surgery to clean it out and keep us here longer. We are praying for the first option!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU to all our friends that have prayed, visited, brought meals, sent cards, phone calls, done all the paperwork for us, and helped with all Harley's care. We can't express our gratitude enough. ❤️❤️❤️

June 29th -

We are officially out of the hospital!!!!!!!!! We are placed in a very nice hotel for two weeks while his arm/hand heals. Then we go back for our post-op appointments. If everything looks good then we can go home. At this time their are a few small areas we're not sure if the skin graft is taking. We are to watch it and report any changes. The skin flap is looking good so far. So we continue to pray that these areas heal and then we can go home! Then the hard work starts - all the physical therapy. Mike is determined and I know God will give him the strength to work that arm back into shape. It will take a year though for everything to look normal again but that is minor details in the scope of what he's been through.

One of my friends posted this today and I though it was very fitting not just for today but every day:
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp!
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Psalm 150:1-6

Mike's cast on his arm came off yesterday. Everything went well. If we can go 24 hours with no fluid pockets under the new skin we get to leave the hospital!!!!!!! We can't leave Seattle until after our 3 week post surgery check-up so we will be hanging out in Seattle for two more weeks. Then hopefully the check-up goes well and we can go home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
