Support for Lesvos Refugee Crisis
Donation protected
Simon and Grace here! Right now we are spending 2 months on Lesvos, a small Greek island off the coast of Turkey, currently home to more than 10,000 refugees of various origins. There are many camps in which the refugees reside, but given the largest camp (Moria) is over 300% maximum capacity, the living conditions are inexplicable. Many families will spend this winter under tarps along the roadside; food will be scarce, and warm water unheard of.
We spend most of our days here volunteering at PIKPA, a small camp hosting some of the most vulnerable cases on the island, including families with many children, pregnant woman, refugees with disabilities, refugees who suffer from serious medical conditions and victims of shipwrecks who lost loved ones at sea. Simon is a member of PIKPA's sustainability & construction team while Grace is working in the kitchen... We both visit the kindergarten daily, and we are hoping to host field trips for the children living in PIKPA.
As the holiday season approaches, we are asking friends and family to assist us in this endeavor. We hope to personally deliver foods to refugees in Moria on a regular basis. We'd like to fund field trips for PIKPA's young residents. Simon would like to purchase tools and material for further construction of homes in PIKPA. Grace is creating a library and finishing a designated woman's space, which both need further material for completion. Every donation will be put toward a worthy cause on an as needed basis...and every bit will be valued.
