Support for Kevin Spaise

Hello, my name is Kelly Larkins and I have been friends with Kevin for most of my life. We met in high school and bonded over our love of dancing! Our friendship grew as we attended hair school together at the Horst Institute in Minneapolis. We have worked together on an off for the past 20+ years! Our friendship has withstood the test of time! He is incredibly special to me and to many of you as well! Kevin's passion for doing hair and making people feel beautiful has never waned all the years he's been a stylist and he is a MASTER at it!!! He has been successfully self employed for the past 20 years. However, being a hairstylist is a very physical job...we're on our feet, day in and day out, it can really take a toll on our bodies, and Kevin is no exception. He has struggled with chronic pain in his neck and back for YEARS, which is why he is in need of our love and support today... In searching for solutions for his pain, Kevin's doctor suggested a relatively low risk procedure, epidural steroid injections in 3 separate discs in his back. So in July of 2019 he went ahead with the procedure and he's been living a nightmare ever since... What happened to him only happens to 2% of people who receive the injections. He developed a staph infection in his spine and was hospitalized for 5 days and when he was released continued taking serious antibiotics for 6 weeks through a pic line, not being able to work most of that time, which is devastating to anyone who is self employed...the loss of income, the medical bills and the fear of losing clients can be crippling. Kevin was able to return to work after 6 weeks and seemed to be getting stronger every day...that is until Friday, November 1st when he woke up with a high fever and the pain had returned. Kevin was readmitted into the hospital where he remains today...the infection is back with a vengeance! Which means he's not working, accumulating more medical bills and he's uncertain when he will physically able to return to his career...it is DEVASTATING to say the least! Everyone who knows Kevin knows how special he is and that he's touched many of our lives over the years! It's now our turn to show Kevin how much he is loved and appreciated!
