Fight with Jenny

Donation protected
After our first go around with fighting off breast cancer, and an amazing show of will power and resilience, we received the news that no one whom has ever been on this road wants to get; that the cancer has returned. I can't begin to explain all of the numerous reasons why this sucks or why Jennifer, of all people deserves so much better. As a partner, mother, sister, daughter, friend and teacher...She has touched and continues to touch so many lives. I have started what will probably be the first of many fundraising campaigns to try and aid us on the road ahead.
In her own words - "Cancer is back. I’ll just pull that band-aid off quick. I have cancerous clusters in my spinal fluid, which is called Leptomeningeal Metastasis. I will be having a PET scan to see if it is anywhere else in my body. The problem is that the spinal fluid is only in your spine and surrounding your brain, so it’s very difficult to treat. Regular chemotherapy infused through the blood will not treat it. So, the current plan is to have a port placed on my head (I’ve already made the Christmas Vacation “My hair just won’t lay right” joke) that will be used to infuse chemotherapy directly into the spinal fluid. The prognosis with that treatment is not fantastic, and it is a long term chemotherapy. If that treatment doesn’t work, I would be looking at 4-6 months. Yeah, months, not years. I don’t accept that because there are so many things I need to still experience. And I don’t even know how the Walking Dead ends yet. So, we’re taking authority over that timeline. This is from the Cancer center in FW. Ivonne Nava Jorgensen already immediately requested a second opinion appointment from MD Anderson which Leslie Miller-Garcia and Sara Rush have already found multiple trials that might be useful.

So what we need now is prayers more than anything. Thompson is taking it pretty hard, so I would like to make whatever time we have left good for him. I also have no life insurance, so any fundraising ideas would be great. I’m not so much worried about treatment costs, but I want to pay off our house so Roger Michael Lawson and Thompson don’t have to worry about that. I know that’s worst case scenario, but I’m just thinking of what we need.

For now, I’m going to take my own advice, and surround myself with funny people and dogs.

Any and all support is appreciated and welcomed. Both monetarily and spiritually. We have only begun to fight, so please pass this along. And on behalf of my extraordinary wife and amazing family, we thank you in advance.
