Support for Farmer and Sheep after Dog Attack

On the morning of 17th February 2019 we received a a knock on the door from a walker by saying our sheep were being viscously attacked by two Vizsla dogs in one of our fields. By the time the farmer got to the sheep, it was a massacre.
These dogs had savagely attacked 25 sheep by ripping their throats out, tearing limbs off, one sheep was laid down on it's stomach and we thought it was fine then we rolled it over to realise it's insides had been ripped out.
These sheep were only 1 year old and out of a field of 29 sheep, 1 died at the scene, 11 had to be put to sleep over a 6 hour period, 13 had to be stitched up and are recovering from shock, only four had been untouched.
The vet described the injuries as serious, not just puncture wounds. They must have had hold of them ragging them about for some time, for the injuries to be so severe.
The distressed this has caused the Cochran family after hand rearing a lot of these sheep for some time is unimaginable.
We use these sheep for wool, breeding and showing, the attack has lost us around £3000 as a result of the incident in vets bills, loss of stock and we have to pay to have the sheep taken away if they have died.
On top of that we now have 13 sheep which we are having to care for with on going vet bills.
We urge dog owners to be more responsible and hope we never have to witness anything like this again.
Dog attacks cost the farming industry an estimated £1.2 million per year, compensation can only be paid to the farmer if they catch the dogs and this is highly unlikely if the dog wasn't caught on the scene.
If by some miracle if we do get compensation through this then we will donate everything to a farmers loss of livestock charity.
A recent change in the Farmers Insurance policy is no longer providing liability coverage for dog bite claims with certain breeds.
