Anyone who has ever met my mom has always told me the same thing: she is amazing, and I am so lucky to have her. That is something I like to brag about often - my mom is a light at the end of the tunnel for everyone, and I am lucky enough to be raised by someone so caring, compassionate, positive, and loving.
So when you learn the person who is everyone else’s rock and is always there to help at a time of need is sick, it’s just that much more heartbreaking. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 invasive breast cancer. She has never been one to ask for help, but she is the most deserving of help, love and support.
That’s why I am taking this upon myself to show her just how much she has touched others’ lives and how truly loved she is while going through a tough time. She is the most positive person I know, even finding out all of this life changing news and having to adjust to a new lifestyle overnight. We have no doubt in our minds that she will be coming out of this experience happy, healthy and ready to help others through it, but that won’t be as easy as we would like without the right support.
Right now we are waiting for the exact details and dates of all the treatments, but we do know all procedures will be considered including chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Along with those traditional measures, she is also undergoing extensive supplemental treatment which includes Vitamin C IV drips and other immune strengthening supplements that are not cheap and not covered by traditional insurance options. We are investing in delivery food options like Green Chef to take some of the time and stress out of meal prepping while everything else is handled. As the situation progresses, after next month, my parents will have exhausted their savings in an effort to provide all the care she needs. The estimated costs outside of the traditional medical care will be about $3,000 per month.
While we are asking for financial support, we also ask for love, positive energy, prayers, anything you are able to direct her way. She is looking at this situation from a place of love and light, and we appreciate anyone else helping lift her up. She is not “battling cancer,” she is healing her body through kindness and love.
