Baby George was born on 23rd January 2018 to Parents Charlotte and Ben and made Olivia a big sister.

Up until 20 weeks as far as Charlotte and Ben were aware they had a healthy baby growing inside them - unfortunately their world was going to be turned upside down when at the 20 week scan they were told their baby was going to have a serious heart problem and was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (See above link)

In the first few days of his life George has had to have major heart surgery and has since had to have more open heart surgery on top of all this  he has had a respiratory and more recently a cardiac arrest, been on and off a ventilator and  been fighting 3 respiratory viruses, suspected sepis and e- coli at the same time.

George’s most recent surgery hasn’t gone as well as they hoped and the valve repair has failed which is causing him major problems, a few days later they opened him up to try and correct the failure and he was found to have a deep infection inside his chest and needed chest drains and washing out inside they had to abort the operation to correct the valve and sedate George and put him back on a ventilator to try and allow him to recover from 2 unsuccessful open heart surgeries in a week. Unfortunately now George is experiencing problems from the failed valve causing him liver problems so they may have to operate again sooner than they would like.

We are raising money as just imagine your child being seriously ill in hospital being sedated and on ventilators and having had open heart surgery on numerous occasions already (despite being only 11 months old ) all the blood tests and infections he is fighting, on top of that to then have the worry of paying your bills and mortgage and it being Christmas for your older child who will be excited for Santa and then knowing you need money and work to pay for these things but also needing and wanting so much more to be with your seriously ill baby who is lying in his hospital cot ventilated waiting to go for his next open heart surgery when he hasn’t even recovered from the one he had last week because it had to be aborted, how much can an 11 month old baby go through in a month let alone all the stuff he has had to go through prior to this.
The stress Charlotte and Ben have to go though all the time not knowing if their baby will survive or pull through his next op or survive the day/night is heartbreaking.

I read a quote on Bens Facebook which said “we are going to love him as much as we can for as long as we can”

When I asked Charlotte if she was allowed to cuddle him she said she has had 1 cuddle in 2 weeks as she’s not allowed to hold him. How sad when your baby is so ill the first thing you want to do is comfort then.
Seeing these comments breaks my heart.

Despite all this Charlotte and Ben are always positive and manage to be fantastic parents to Olivia and George.

Unfortunately we can’t do anything to help George medically that is is down to the medical professionals and the gorgeous little man himself to continue being the fighter he is. But we can ease the pressure financially to enable them to not have to worry so much about working and finances and concentrate on being with Baby George and supporting him  (he needs his mummy and daddy around him for cuddles when he is well enough and to hold his hand) through these difficult times.

Charlotte has spent years caring for others and helping them in their time of need in her job as a technician with the East Midlands ambulance service so it would be nice if we could help her and her family in their time of need.

Please give as much or as little as you can let’s ease the pressure for this lovely family just a little bit. Every little helps and if people don’t want to donate online I can give you my bank details or you can give me cash and I will put it in for you. I’m also in the process of getting collection pots on the ambulance stations.

Thank you all so much

Keep fighting George we are all praying for you your our little Hero xx
