Support Equine Welfare

Please support our work addressing horse welfare issues around Swansea
Help us to reach more horses and owners who need us.
We provide outreach support to owners and horses who live in the communities in and around Swansea. There are hundreds of horses owned by individuals in urban communities . The urban horse owners represent some of the most deprived people in the UK, the majority of horses owners are under 25 years old and suffering great hardship, they are part of the most marginalised, disadvantaged communities. There are concerns for the welfare of the urban horses in Swansea, not only those that are tethered but also those that roam common land and marshes and those kept in gardens, sheds and stables.
Lisa is the outreach officer for Communities For Horses – although she has worked in these communities for most of her life, Communities for Horses is a seedling of an organisation, just starting out. Our vision is a community where horses and humans thrive. Our mission is to promote positive equine welfare by providing support and educational opportunities to the community.
We are working at first on an outreach basis, in schools, events and using community facilities. In time we will set up a static base from which to hold our activities.
We need funding to enable us to do our work:
£10 provides enough phone credit for Lisa to run our help and advice lines for a month.
£20 can fund an outreach officer to make several visits to horses and their owner who need our help.
£100 can fund an educational event where we can reach many owners at one time.
£500 will help to fund and run our ‘education bus’ – to have a presence in the communities and provide ongoing education.
