The small island nation of Dominica has been devastated by Hurricane Maria, a category 5 storm. It is the first time a storm of this magnitude has ever hit the island and emergency relief is urgently needed!

I was born on the island of Dominica and I was devastated watching from the United States as  Hurricane Maria turned it into a pile of rubble. Dominica is a tiny island that very few people in my 35 year experience have ever even heard of. They don't have much and the population could fit twice into a Manhattan burrough but I live in a country with exponentially more wealth and resources. 

This is  a personal effort to raise awareness and to guide funds toward relief efforts on Dominica.

I'm not affiliated with any organisation but I am donating to the Dominica American Relief and Development Association, a nonprofit that has been working to surrport hurricane releif efforts in Dominica since 1981. They are sanctioned by the Dominican government and have an excellent track record.

I was also impressed by their quick and coordinated response to the recent disaster. They also work closely with the Dominican Red Cross.

Funds withdrawn from this account will be be donated directly to DARDA or used to purchase and ship items from their Amazon wish list of urgently needed items.
