Support climate justice activists
Support the 48 Yale students and New Haven community members who were arrested for occupying the Yale Investments Office on December 7th. They demanded that Yale instruct its fund managers to cancel the Puerto Rican debt they hold and to divest from fossil fuels- a coordinated climate justice platform. They were each issued a $92 citation for trespassing.
Many of the participants rely on financial aid for tuition, and it would be wonderful if we could all chip in a bit to cover the costs of these citations. It would be a beautiful gesture of support and gratitude toward all the incredible participants who risked arrest and put their time and energy into this sit-in to fight for our environment and the people of Puerto Rico.
In light of recent climate news, including the IPCC report, and the NOAA climate report, it is as crucial as ever to take definitive steps towards a greener tomorrow. This is only one action in a greater movement pushing Yale towards divestment. We hope you’ll consider contributing anything you can offer to support this movement!
