Care Packages for the Homeless
Winter is already here and the harsh conditions for the homeless community of Vancouver's DTES (Downtown Eastside) are getting worse. We want to help by giving out care packages to the homeless.
Ideally, our care packages would include:
- Clothes (sweater, pants, gloves, and 2 pairs of socks)
- Blanket
- Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, toothpaste and toothbrush) plus foot cream (a lot of homeless people suffer from foot infections)
- Bandaids
- Energy bars (ones that actually taste good)
Please help in whatever way you can. Spare $5 and share our campaign on social media!
Thank you so much for your support,
-Maria & Nathan

A big THANK YOU to everyone that donated so far!
A generous neighbour heard about our project and donated around 60 freshly baked croissants to us. So we bought ham, cheese, peanut butter, and jam and made two kinds of sandwiches.
We went to Oppenheimer Park in DTES and also walked around East Hastings handing out sandwiches.
Everyone was so polite and some people even wanted to take more than 1 for the road!
From those we talked to, we also learned that there are so many great resources for the DTES residents. For example, there is a centre that serves hot meals for $2. It's great to see that there is a lot of community support in this neighbourhood.
We'll continue to raise money for the care packages so thank you for your help!

Another BIG thank you to everyone once again!
We bought 40 pairs of socks to hand out in the DTES. We also put a granola bar to go with each pair of socks as a light snack.
Posing in the parking lot before heading out!
We still have money leftover and will continue to help out the community! Thanks again!
