Joey and Christie were brought separately by ambulance to Gwinnett Medical, where Joey endured life saving emergency surgery to remove 2 feet of intestines. Christie, 7 months pregnant, had an emergency c-section and gave birth to a precious baby girl they have named Olivia Grace Barnum.
Tragically, Olivia fought to survive for a period of time, but could not pull through due to trauma induced injuries resulting from the accident.
Their 2 1/2 year-old son Jace was taken separately to Egleston Children’s Hospital, where he was given stitches, diagnosed with concussion and fracture collarbone. Other than bruising and resulting soreness, he will recover just fine. What a brave young boy! Cannot imagine the trauma that the impact of this accident could cause for their memories.
The tremendous loss and suffering caused by this senseless act is sorrowful and devastating for this precious young family. This fundraiser is aimed to only help to alleviate their financial burden and struggles as they navigate the next several months of recovery. Joey is a welder by trade, and due to internal and corporal injury , will be unable to work for an indefinite period of time.
Christie, Joey, and Jace have a large circle of wonderful faithful friends and family that will life them on shoulder to carry them through this sorrowful journey of healing, grief, and recovery. With God’s grace and peace, they will get through.
