Support Aguas Migrantes

We are Aguas Migrantes , an artists collective based in the Bay Area.

This will be our 4th year connecting artists to communities in Mexico by creating spaces of trueque (mutual exchange). This exchange helps to bring free art, writing, red medicine workshops, mural projects, music, independent film festivals and culminating exhibitions to urban and rural communities. These are scarce opportunities to experience knowledge exchange for locals and us, Aguas Migrantes.

This year we are excited to be partnering with Otomi communities in Tenango de Doria & Zacacuautla, Hidalgo, Mexico.  Our goal is to expand on the types of art promoted in past years. In Tenango de Doria we will hold a free event that will consist of a live mural painting by 4 local artists, live music, free art workshops and a short film festival. Followed by a collaboration with El Ocotenco, a collective organized and run by Filiberta Nevado, a forest protector who has been fighting against illegal logging in Zacacuautla, Hidalgo since the early 90’s.

We want to use this space to thank past generosity of many friends and family because without you we wouldn't be here today!

The funds from this campaign will help us create an intimate connection once again, this time in Hidalgo, Mexico.

Our expenses include:

Honorariums for mural artists and musicians        $600
Paint for the Mural                                                                  $300
Materials for the workshops                                             $300
Rental of a sound system                                                     $300
