Hello! I am Kurt Karlovich, Mayor of the City of Sunbury, Pennsylvania.
I am asking for your help to contribute to the "Sunbury Wetland Community Nature Park". Your contribution(s) are GREATLY appreciated and will help us tell the story and share the history of this property and give the public a safe place to be, whether for educational purposes, hiking, relaxing, or spending time with their pets and family.
This project will preserve the natural aspects of the property with the plant and animal habitat and will be one of a kind for all ages, all people, all animals, and all school districts, universities and colleges to use and explore.
THIS PARK WILL CONSIST OF:
A 100% protected Wetland area designated by the Army Corps of Engineers, raised Boardwalks, hiking trails, educational/information boards, outdoor classroom/sitting area, fenced in DOG park area, and an off street parking lot.
All donations from this GoFundMe will be given directly to the City of Sunbury and placed into the Wetland Project Fund to be used and only used for this community project.

*PROPERTY INFORMATION:
-This property is City owned and is 4.4 acres of natural land which is located between North 6th ST (west side) & North 8th ST (East side), Line ST (North side) & Race ST (South side) in Sunbury. It is centrally located and walkable from anywhere within the city limits.
-The Army Corps of Engineers designated 0.87 acres of wetland area that will be protected and preserved.
-There is also very old railroad history of an embankment entering the property on Race ST and exiting the property on North 6th ST with an old rock wall that was once the side of a small railroad bridge.
*PLANS FOR PROPERTY:
*DOG PARK AREA
-Approximately one (1) acre fenced in community DOG park with the fencing and installation currently priced at $16,000.
-The Dog Park fence will consist of an outer perimeter of 5' high black vinyl coated chain link fence with top and bottom rails. The Dog area will be divided into two areas, one side for larger breeds and one side for smaller breeds, by a 4' high chain link fence of the same material.
-The Dog Park will consist of shade trees, benches, Human & canine drinking water fountains, Trash bins, dog waste stations, and dog friendly equipment.
*PROTECTED WETLAND AREA & BOARDWALKS
-Boardwalks will be built and raised off the ground to allow public access near the wetland area for viewing and educational purposes while protecting the wetland area.
-Boardwalks will have sitting areas and viewing areas, educational signs depicting pictures and information of the kinds of animals and nature that is located on the property, along with history of the property.
-The public will have access to walking/hiking trails on all four sides of the property.
*Off street parking will be available for this park.
