**BUILD A LEARNING VIBE IN
GRANVILLE THIS SUMMER!!**

======================================
From July 10-August 18, 2017, 50-75 children ages 5 - 18 years old will gather in community spaces - schools, theatres, churches - to be engaged in project-based learning under the theme "YOUTH VIBRATIONS".

Whether the participants choose Chess, Knitting, Photography, Theatre, Art History, or Leadership, learning will be facilitated by scholars, educators, artists, writers, and advocates who are committed to ensuring that youth voices, experiences, insights, and talents take centerstage in creating change from the ground up.

In the process, participants get to learn firsthand about the passion and hard work that it takes to build a healthy, vibrant community, and why taking care of the minds of youth matters so much.

WHAT IS SUMMER ARTS WORKSHOP?

SAW is an entirely grassroots project that uses art education to foster youth's interest in reading, self-expression and and promote youth engagement in the community.

Since 2011, Summer Arts Workshop has provided a positive, nurturing and engaging space for young people during the summer months in Granville, St. James.

Granville is located just outside of Montego Bay in Jamaica.    Since its inception, SAW stands as a gem in a community that is suffering from the systematic neglect of its youth.

What's unique about SAW?

For six weeks each year, participants can expect to have access to community-based arts education and academic enrichment - FREE OF COST.   Families can expect that their children will become more interested in books, more expressive about their ideas, more self-confident, and more willing to ask questions.

And we know that's just the beginning.

What we believe:
All children deserve to have access to knowledge that they can use in creative ways to engage with the world around them, and it is the responsibilty of adults to make sure that this happens.

No child should be without books or art.  And we work to change that one summer holiday, one child, one family, one community at a time.

SAW exists because we champion the right of children to high-quality learning experiences inside their own community, no matter how much money their parents make, what kind of house they live in, what kind of school they attend.

With a lot of hard work and the invaluable assistance of a community of supporters like yourself, we can continue this important work in 2017.

SAW is for everyone.  Youth of various abilities - intellectual and physical - are able to come, share and learn  in ways that match their skill and interests.

We would not have it any other way.
