We are light warriors carrying out direct action protest, with light projections. We are shining light on the O&G industry and the public officials who are their minions in order to stop fracking in Boulder County.

Our purpose is to engage the public, directly and through social media, with artful and compelling messages and graphics projected onto public buildings and fracking infrastructure—in order to provide a basic education about fracking, and the details of the fracking intrusion into Boulder County. We recommend a list of simple actions that can be taken immediately to stop fracking in Boulder County. See here: http://suedelightbrigade.com/#actions

If people want to get more deeply involved we invite them to join us for light protest, and we steer them toward our partners who conduct education about community right organizing, and direct action trainings.

The actions are also a valuable rallying tool to fire up our local activists. This light protest, four actions to date, has become widely known here in Boulder and may play out as one of the most important tools in our arsenal to rally the public, and stop fracking in Boulder County.

Resolved:
We do not want drilling in Boulder County under any circumstances. It is a violation of our land, the health of our families, and the well being of our communities and climate. Any attempt to forcefully move fracking into Boulder County is a violation of our fundamental rights. The laws that seek to remove us from control of our land, our local environment, and our right to self govern are in every way immoral and illegitimate. We have the right and obligation to protect our climate, our environment, our families, and our communities.

We want to make the Suede Light Brigade sustainable and self-supporting for the long run by creating an operating fund to pay for equipment and educational materials.

The more money we raise the better.
If we raise $3000 we will purchase TWO Source Four spotlights—and this has a nice effect to use two together.
If we raise $5000 we will buy the two spotlights, and begin using projectors and computers to produce motion graphics and images in our actions.

There is a page on our website where I will exercise full financial transparency by listing purchases and expenses.

To date I have spent $373.95 of my own money on four actions that took place in a week. Check out our work here: http://suedelightbrigade.com/#actionOne

I have also put in countless hours on this issue, educating myself about the issue and its history, protest tactics and related principles and theories, and organizing the actions. This has felt like personal growth for me and I am fired up to continue giving my time. But my pockets are only so deep, and I would be very grateful for your financial assistance so we can continue illuminating the oil and gas industry, and politicians in order to ban fracking in Boulder County.
