End The Sub-Prime Mortgage Crisis
We learned from our own investigative reporting that way too many Americans were struggling with upside down mortgages. According to one real estate source, American “homeowners” owe at least 20% more than their homes are worth, totaling $579 billion of so-called negative equity. They need our help.
The government recently funded some $43 million in grants to nonprofit organizations for counseling on home owner problems when homeowners really needed money to relief from mortgage companies and money to pay their mortgages. Our campaign helps low-income homeowners access the information and programs needed to get them out of the housing crisis and engage them in helping neighbors in need.
These funds are urgently needed during the 2016 Presidential Election and the first 100 days of the new presidential administration.
Our candidates have been engaged in emails and tax returns without providing a vision for America's Future. YouthUSA is committed to economic security for all American children. That means citizens of means with citizens in need.
Our hope is that no American will be left behind paying excessive mortgages. Homeownership is a necessary step toward economic security for all. We truly believe that poor people can be less poor if rich people are willing to become even richer at a slower pace.
