Stuck in Montana With Car repair
My commission in Montana has come to an end and I am destined for the Mojave fro my next paying projects. Essentially I am between jobs. Upon loading the car, my rear shocks gave way. I am currently dead in the water until they can be replaced. The brilliant news is that I have access to all the tools needed and knowledge to do the work myself, despite being stuck in a remote town. With $65 I can order the rear shocks, $98 will cover the alignment, which I have to drive 35 miles to the nearest mechanic for. I'm asking if I can raise $170 through goodwill or even donations of $5 spread amongst many friends and family so I can cover the costs and the socket needed to remove the shocks. Any help would be wonderful as I am overdue for my trip south and cannot bare the repair expense at a dealership nor pay to tow the car. with the donations I can order the parts and turn a potentially $400 repair into something manageable. I deeply thank you for any support. Please fell free to comment or add suggestions.+ Read More
I really can't thank everyone enough. I've made it to the destination. I still have to figure out the root of the fuel pump issue, but after getting down here, I can close down the donation requests. I'll be back to working within this week. everyone has gone so far above and beyond. what I thought was just a simple shock replacement almost turned into a disaster and I never would have made it here without this support. I am truly grateful beyond any measure.
As many of you may be aware, I am having fuel pump and fuel line issues as I travel through Utah. I’m nearing the bottom of the state and wanted to thank everyone for helping out. I’ve been making minor repairs and tweaks as I go.
Check out this video update. This is a progress update on the rear shocks. The photo below shows the difference in the ride height of the car. I can’t believe how drastic the difference is! I’m still $25 short of taking it to the mechanics,40 miles away. This has been so much cheaper than a tow truck and a $400 repair bill from the dealership. And I cannot believe what the towing charges were starting to look like for a 40mile trip.
I’ve just purchased the socket set and the shocks and bushings will go on today. Still a little short on the money needed to have the alignment checked at the nearest shop. But I would never have made it this far into the repair without everyone’s generosity!
