St. Stan's Robotics to VEX Worlds

What hath St. Stan’s wrought with a little robot? A journey of 1000 miles from Fall River, Massachusetts to Louisville, Kentucky. Not for the Derby, but for a race just as exciting: the VEX IQ Challenge Worlds 2017 Competition!
The St. Stanislaus Robotics Club students have shown outstanding teamwork since day one. They designed, built, programmed and practiced every Saturday, from September to December, under the direction of two volunteer moderators. As 2017 dawned, thrilling things began to happen.
In January, the team entered their first-ever competition, the VEX IQ Challenge, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation. Their goal was to experience what a competition was like and, as one student said, “Not to come in last place!” Our team competed against other middle school teams from Massachusetts with astounding results. We finished in 1st place and secured a spot for entry into the VEX IQ Challenge Southern New England Competition, held in March 2017.
At the Southern New England Competition in March, the team met with great success. They won the 1st Place Championship Award, the 1st Place Robotics Skills Award (tied with another team), and the Judges Award, given for their teamwork. They also qualified for the VEX Worlds 2017 IQ Challenge, where they will compete against other middle school teams from around the world on April 23 – 25 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Currently, the team is busy redesigning and programming their robot to get ready for this international competition. We’ll be posting updates during the competition in Louisville at www.saintstanislaus.com and www.facebook.com/ststansschoolfallriver .
There are many costs associated with the team entering the Worlds 2017 Competition. The competition fees, along with transportation and lodging, will total around $12,000. That’s $12 per mile!
We are asking for your support to fund the St. Stan’s Robotics Team’s trip to Louisville. Please consider funding one or more miles of our journey. We sincerely thank you in advance for your generosity.
