Stroke 10 Days After Childbirth

10 days after giving birth to her son, my friend, Joyce, had a massive stroke.

How is this possible?  Surely Joyce was too young to have a stroke? She was meticulous about her prenatal care, she didn't drink or smoke and she definitely didn't do drugs.  She was healthy.

After her c-section, Joyce developed a blood clot which led to bleeding on her brain, causing the stroke. I had no idea this was even possible. Again, she was healthy.

When I first saw Joyce in the ICU I was in shock. I sat by her bed, held her hand, kissed her cheek and quietly prayed.  You see, I felt there was no way she could survive this.  Joyce was attached to every machine known to modern man, had doctors and nurses all around her and was barely breathing.

That was  3 weeks ago -  After 2 brain surgeries and 1 reconstructive surgery to replace the part of her skull they had to remove - here is Joyce and baby Lee today:

Joyce has battled back like a lioness, she had no intention of leaving her babies without their mother. However, the devil is always working and Joyce was recently let go from her job due to her illness . She now finds herself with no income and limited health insurance to continue her rehabilitation.

Now, like most of us, Joyce is a very proud woman who would rarely ask for help, so allow me to do it for her. Please look into your heart and consider helping Joyce and her children during this very difficult time. Anything will help, no matter how small.
