Streets Apart

Donation protected
Homelessness and rough sleeping is continuing to rise in our society. Everyone deserves a place to live.

As a community playwright I feel passionately that drama, art and music can help convey a powerful message to help to raise awareness and tell the stories of the vulnerable.

I am planning a collaborative Homelessness Awareness Event in April to be held in Stratford upon Avon. There will be two performances of Streets Apart, an inspirational new play that I have written that reflects the moving struggles of those who face the uphill struggle of life on the streets.

In the foyer, music will be performed by some of the local homeless community and poetry of the street sleepers read.  We have gathered together some splendid creative  souls who are keen to bring their craft along to support the homelessness issues.
There will be free stands offered to agencies, charities and organisations working within the sector who will be able to inform and inspire the public.
The week prior to the event, we hope to run a contemporary art and photography exhibition that will display powerful images of homelessness.
We will be inviting key members of local authorities, health and wellbeing services and all major decision makers with the aim of inform and influencing through an exciting and stimulating presentation of the arts.

The stories told throughout the research have been harrowing. The tragedy and downward spiral of life on the streets could happen to anyone of us. The understanding of the reasons behind homelessness and the chaotic results that it brings need to be told. But lives can change when a community comes together.

And this is where I ask for your kind help. Any small donation would help us to put this important event together.

The project raises the issues of poor mental and emotional health and the need for increased support and cohesion and will work towards reducing inequalities in society. Through the power of theatre and art, we hope to build social connections and reach those who are isolated and vulnerable.

Each member of the team will be providing their services for free and all profits will go to local homeless projects.

With sufficient funds, a local song-writing project run with street sleepers will be able to continue after the production if funding is successful.

Funds are needed now January until March 2019.

We are hugely passionate that this event will be a turning point for awareness about our streets sleepers and help to bring about a change for the better. If you can please support this event, no matter how small the contribution because every penny will benefit those who so need our help. This is our kindness. Thank you
