Kosi's fifth album
Hello, friends, fans, and family!
For those who don't know me, my name is Kosi, and I'm a jazz singer-songwriter. I'm about to begin work on my fifth musical offering in the form of an album. If you haven't heard my first four - One More Cup of Coffee, Pictures of Us, Ghosts Appearing through the Sound, and I Know Who I Am - well, they're worth hearing. As a matter of fact, listen to them in that order, because each one is more epic than the predecessor. The fourth album, I Know Who I Am, in addition to getting glowing reviews from All About Jazz, Jazz in Europe, NewCity Music, and various award-winning musicians and professionals, was accepted for the first round of voting in the Grammy's. With your help, this fifth album will be even more epic than that.
I have a list of songs lined up and a roster of mind-melting musicians. In order to take more risks, pay more attention to details, be more relaxed and more raw, I plan to really take my time in the studio, but studio time is expensive. Your preordering the album is a great way to help me get the funds I need.
I'll be beginning work immediately in January of 2018, and so I'm super duper grateful for support as soon as you can give it. Recording an album is also a months-long process at least, and I plan to keep this page open for as long as necessary, so no worries if you can't support right away. Either way, you'll be helping and I'll be grateful.
Thanks so much for being a part of this process! Much love and light to you for the new year!

“I listened to [your album, I Know Who I Am], and man, your voice is incredible. Not only do you have a fabulous and unique timbre, your performances are full of passion and musicality. This album feels very personal and heartfelt. It was great to get to peek into your musical soul for a bit.” — Christopher Tin, Grammy winning composer
“Your voice is one in that the listener doesn’t know where you are going to go with it, has an element of surprise and it’s beautiful! A gift to be able to artfully use the voice in a manner that makes sometimes a slower or pacing song, full of dynamic and surprise…really great job, Kosi!” — Matthew Mayer, Award winning pianist
“Your album impresses me as being extremely personal and heartfelt. It’s refreshingly rich and even raw in feeling, with the beautiful rough edges still showing. It’s a beautiful expression and labor of love from you.” — Max Highstein, award winning composer
“Every song on the CD, I Know Who I Am, by Kosi is VERY different from the other songs on the CD, and yet, there is a central theme…pain, guilt, loss, hope, and searching…all tied together by a voice just OOZING with raw, but controlled, emotion.”
— Kelly Triplett, Award winning singer-songwriter
“The more I plunged into the record, the more amazed I was. The album not only shines thanks to your formidable vocal beauty, but the conception, the message, the integrity of this masterpiece is breathtaking.” — Tri Nguyen, Award winning multi-instrumentalist
“As a songwriter, Kosi tells wonderfully crafted stories so deep and intimate it may appear that she’s shared too much, until you realize that a part of you is in there with her. As a performer, Kosi intertwines folk and jazz sensibilities with her unique vocal instrument. A compelling crowd pleaser from the moment she steps on stage.” — John Hayes, Pittsburgh Songwriters Circle
"In all, it’s a rich, breathing, urgent album and Kosi inflects every measure with unflinching integrity. “Diva” is a hopelessly devalued word these days; we need a new one for singers like this, who stand their ground and deliver the goddamn goods." — Robert Rodi, NewCity Music

I'm so ridiculously close to finishing that it would be a crying shame if I had to stop because of a lack of funds.
I need you to help me go searching far and wide for more donors.
Seriously. Tell your facebook friends, your real friends, your fake friends, your cousins, your baby mama's cousins... anybody who wants to hear more of that good independent music in the world.
The good news is what I have so far sounds gooooooood.
In the mean time, I'm almost done with recording sessions, and I'm just all the way giddy with how the album is turning out. It's not finished but it's already the best work I've ever done.
Also, I've designed an album cover and some super dope tee shirts for those of you generous enough to support with more than $50. Thanks so much! Please do me one more favor and share this with everyone you know who loves good music and artsy tee shirts!
Also, we're more than halfway done with tracking. We've had some really, really good sessions (I geek out about it a little bit in the video...sorry.) But there's still more to do. I don't have an ETA quite yet of when it will all be done. It's mostly contingent on funding (as everything is), so thanks so much for your help so far! But please don't forget to share this with as many lovers of independent music as you can! Every single donation means the difference between continuing full speed and... well, waiting for more funding. So thank you for sharing this with everyone you possibly can, and thank you for being a part of this project!
Needless to say, this session will be expensive (because of course it will) and it will be the first of many sessions, so your help is greatly appreciated.
Can you do me one more favor? Share this with as many music lovers as you can!
Thanks so much for being a part of this!
