West Van Community Stakeholders

Donation protected

West Vancouver Community Stakeholders is a grassroots campaign that allows residents and business owners in West Vancouver to stay informed and up-to-date on actions taken by the West Vancouver Mayor and Council.

Originally called Stop the Road Closures and led by Ambleside business owner Nigel Malkin, the campaign successfully engaged hundreds of citizens to work together and put a stop to the proposed intrusive B-Line from going west of Park Royal. Had it not been for Nigel, this B-Line would have resulted in unnecessary lane closures to cars and had articulated buses running along Marine until well into the night.

Only after the stoppage of the B-Line did it come to the attention of this group that there are many other agenda items that Mayor and Council have tried to push through, including the most recent Five Creeks Project.

This site is to keep all residents of West Vancouver, and those outside of the municipality that have concerns, informed and engaged. Although some of the proposed project may not have an immediate impact on some residents, eventually there will be something that comes up in their area and they will want the support of this group. We should all support each other – from Ambleside to Horseshoe Bay and from Altamont to British Properties – working together we can hold our Mayor and Council accountable to projects and proposals that are being pushed through without proper consultation and community engagement.

Funds raised through West Vancouver Community Stakeholders will go towards printing costs, advertisements, direct mail outs and other costs incurred to maintain this group. All financial records will be available for review.

If you’d like to designated your donation to a certain project, please make note of that in the “comments” section of the Go Fund Me page.

West Van Community Stakeholders is a grass roots campaign started by Ambleside business person Nigel Malkin (Stoptheroadclosures.ca) to stop the proposed intrusive B-line from going West of Park Royal. There are other bus compromises and options that would work better and be less intrusive to the quaint seaside village of West Vancouver, B.C.

The unnecessary lane closures to thru-traffic and the rest stop for mandated driver breaks - 8 double sized buses an hour in front of or near Irwin Park School must not happen! And it’s not even a bus stop just a place for drivers to take a break!
Give us a break! That’s outrageous!

The lack of consultation is mind boggling! They’re only now identifying stakeholders? The plan has been made! This is ludicrous and must be voted down by WV Council.

I’ve created this campaign as a show of support! We need to step up our game!

Every donation large or small will help immensely.

We would like some funds for signage, flyers, newspaper space, and other tactical expenditures to get our message out into the community to support Nigel Malkin and other Ambleside and Dundarave businesses. We appreciate the volunteers that have poured countless hours into this campaign and have been integral in finding out the details that we now know about !

-First publicly exposing  the thru-lane closures planned for West of Park Royal.

-Challenging the now debunked Translink survey and continuing to challenge Translink ridership data for this potentially affected corridor.

-Giving a realistic number of actual affected existing street parking spaces on Marine Dr. These spaces are very important to these existing businesses.

-Exposing the proposed rest stop in front of Irwin Park School. The parents and the admins of the school are obviously very upset for many reasons.

-Exposing the original markings that Councillor Cameron thought were CN markings only to be corrected. Why, because Nigel actually asked the surveyors who they were!

-Identifying that the very important 255 bus will no longer service Lions Gate Hospital directly. (Important for WV seniors)

We need all the help we can get to go up against the Translink and WV roll out of this unnecessary and totally bungled plan.

Help us step it up! Get our message out! Help us be the best stoptheroadclosures.ca we can be and let’s- Stop the B-line at or near Park Royal!

West Vancouver will never get control of those lanes back once they hand them over to Translink - we must not let that happen!

All expenditures will be posted on stoptheroadclosures.ca for your review. Any left over donations will go to ADRA- Ambleside Dundarave Ratepayers Association- West Vancouver’s oldest non-profit society. These are fantastic volunteers that promote civic discourse in West Van and advocate for responsible decision making with more discourse and transparency over how WV tax dollars are spent.

Help us achieve our third goal of $5000 to create the best materials and give our message maximum exposure to counter Translink and their intended subversion of our community and roads!

Take back West Vancouver one donation at a time!
$5-$10-$100 whatever! Let’s support the mission.

I’m kicking this off with a second $100 donation. Let’s get behind this and help Nigel
