The Stop the Behemoth team is raising funds to help support a grassroots campaign of folks from Lancaster, MA who are against the Goodridge Brook Estates Chapter 40B project that will be devastating to the town if this is built.  We expect to have legal costs and other expenses to help make citizens of Lancaster MA aware of this terrible project.  Please consider donating so the Stop the Behemoth team has the resources needed to be successful.  Any extra funds that are not needed will be donated to the Lancaster Land Trust.

The Goodridge Brook Estates development is more than 45 acres of high density housing planned for a parcel of land along Sterling Road.   This project's scale is unprecedented for Lancaster and will have an over-reaching impact on town resources and infrastructure, specifically related to water, sewer, and roads.  Given this a Chapter 40B project, it will be a very difficult task to block this behemoth from being permitted by the local Lancaster Zoning Board of Appeals.  Thus we anticipate having legal costs by consulting with a lawyer who specializes in Chapter 40B projects, we expect to have costs hiring independent specialists, and the list goes on for things that will be required to take on this monumental task.

We have a forum based website at http://stopthebehemoth.org that will be a central place for information gathered and to keep people informed of upcoming meetings and events of importance related to this.  We are also reaching out on the Lancaster Mass Facebook group and the Lancaster Citizens Against Overdevelopment Facebook group.  We are using GoFundMe here to raise funds to support the Stop the Behemoth team and pay for the significant costs that will undoubtedly be associated with successfully blocking this terrible disaster that will ruin the town of Lancaster, MA.  Please consider donating today!

Hi Everyone-

At the ZBA meeting last week the meeting for the comprehensive permit for Goodridge Brook Estates was closed by the board. They will be having 2 deliberation meetings to decide on how they will vote and then vote on whether to grant the comprehensive permit or not.

GoFundMe has requested I post an update for the campaign since the fund is tied to an account opened in my name to move the funds out of GoFundMe so they can be used. Rest assured all of the funds have been used to cover expenses for the campaign against the GBE project. The majority of the funds have gone to Dan Hill our attorney for which I just recently paid an ~$8000 invoice. Dan is pretty much the best 40B lawyer in the state and he is expensive at around $300/hour. He has done a phenomenal job and we the residents of Lancaster appreciate his effort in representing us.

To answer GoFundMe's specific request, I'm posting answers to questions they wanted reflected in an update to everyone on the campaign:

1. How you are related to your beneficiary?

A: I am the acting treasurer for Stop the Behemoth and the benificiary is a residents group form the town of Lancaster, MA who has hired Dan Hill as our attorney along with other experts who have spoken at town hearings regarding the project we are trying to stop. I am a resident of Lancaster, MA and have been entrusted by our resident's group Stop The Behemoth to handle GoFundMe and checks that have been donated to the cause. I can easily produced a bank statement showing where all funds have gone since the campaign's inception if need be.

2. You are withdrawing the funds in your name: Yes I have used an extra bank account I opened in my name to move funds from GoFundMe to the entities we have hired such as Dan Hill our Lawyer and Patrick Garner (an environmental expert) along with others who have represented our resident's group.

3. How exactly you will be delivering the funds to your beneficiary or using the money on their behalf:

A: I have used the bank account's bill pay feature to issue payments to mainly Dan Hill and other entities we have hired. As I mentioned above the bank statement for that last year for this account along with detailed invoices from Dan Hill and other reports from experts that are public information can be produced at any time.

I hope this is sufficient for GoFundMe to not suspend our campaign. I assure you that our campaign is alive and well, and 100% of the funds raised have gone to people and organizations our residents groups has hired to combat the terrible project going on in Lancaster, MA known as Goodridge Brook Estates.

Hi Everyone-

We have made some great strides in our fight against this terrible project and we are in the home stretch with votes coming up from the sewer district and the ZBA.

Our legal council and engineering studies for water, sewer, and other impact studies from independent consultants have been extensive. If you are able to donate more to further help with this we really need to funds at this time.

If you haven't been able to help by attending meetings or doing other legwork, a donation would be a great substitute to help fund crucial help we need from experts and our lawyer. Please consider donating today!

Yours in Stop The Behemoth,

The STB Team.
