Stop Briggens Quarry

£2,154 of £5,000 goal

Raised by 44 people in 25 days
We're opposing Hertford County Council; the London based fund City and Provincial; and the contractor Tarmac who are behind a proposal to destroy two working farms between Harlow and Stanstead Abbotts known as the Briggens Estate to create a gravel quarry on Green Belt land in Hertfordshire.

Tarmac plan to extract 500,000t of gravel and aggregate per year for 22 years and this will all be transported by lorry onto a road system unable to cope with the current traffic let alone the increased levels. The land is currently part of the lungs of London though will become part of the problem with increased dust, pollution, noise and road safety issues.

The Stop Briggens Quarry Group will use every pound donated to fund activities such as employing experts to counter Tarmac claims, keeping the local community informed and legal assistance in the campaign to stop this moving forward.

We have formed a committee to keep things moving and have various websites:
www.facebook.com/saynotoquarry
www.stopthequarry.site

The Facebook page contains research and news about the campaign while the website has our response page that links with the Herts Council consultation which closes on the 9th February 2018.

Please support us by objecting to the proposal on www.stopthequarry.site and if you are able to help us by donating to the cause this would be much appreciated by the whole community.

Thank you for your support.
