Residents Beware of attack on Privacy!

Donation protected
Currently in Penn Forest there is a camp ground going into a rural area through the private communities of Marty Axman's and Sunrise Ridge that are supposed to be protected by bylaws that state "no business shall be allowed". Because of our antiquated zoning laws, the loopholes are vast and our privacy is now under attack! The potential devastation of allowing big businesses to invade our private communities begin with traffic and safety issues, road maintenance issues, littering, loitering and trespassing throughout our developments, and do not end with polluting our pristine streams and waterways that are the gems of our area! This property owner has no drainage for these campsites and was approved to have solar showers and special bag they're given to defecate in that gets disposed of in a dumpster. The Campsites have also been approved for 2 sources of fire. Fires create Particulate Matter which is devastating to the environment and our health. The smoke from wood burning is made up of a complex mixture of gases and fine particles (also called particle pollution, particulate matter, or PM).  In addition to particle pollution, wood smoke contains several toxic harmful air pollutants including: benzene, formaldehyde, acrolein, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) Please read more at; https://www.epa.gov/pm-pollution/health-and-environmental-effects-particulate-matter-pm These are all of grave concern. Allowing this to continue will result in additional private communities becoming vulnerable to big businesses moving into their areas, lowering our property values, and littering and polluting our developments. These unwarranted intrusions of our quiet environments will negatively impact the way of life for residents, visitors, and wildlife as they know it! The greedy few are now impacting the masses of tax paying residents that take great pride in our communities. This needs to stop now! We find ourselves in need of retaining legal counsel to protect these private communities from the unscrupulous politics surrounding big business for personal gain! It is unknown how hard or how long this battle will be. Therefore, our community is asking for your help and generosity to save the pristine environments of Northeastern PA where we reside. We have an abundance of natural resources unlike any other in Pennsylvania much less the continental US. Our town of Jim Thorpe has been voted one of the top 5 small cities in the US to visit by USA Today and other nationally respected publications. We want our area to remain the desirable place to visit that is now. If we start encroaching on these natural resources it will lead to disaster, and not a very pretty place to visit any longer. Not to mention those looking to purchase property in a pristine area who will risk plummeting property values. It is time for the townships to step up and protect us again! We need them to act on these laws that allow us to be pushed aside and not have a voice in the communities that we have worked so hard to develop and protect! We appreciate your contribution no matter how small or how large. This problem is not unique to us but everywhere big businesses target vulnerable communities. Remember if this is happening to us, it could happen to you! We have a lot to protect here!  https://www.jimthorpe.org
