Stop Ava's Bleeding

Donation protected
Let me start by saying you can donate here or you can verify that Ava's story is real and call her vet and donate over the phone directly to them, under my name, Chandra Kingston. Valley Oak Veterinary Hospital 3924 Oakdale Rd, Modesto CA (209) [phone redacted] Hi, this is Ava. She is almost 1 year old. I got her 2 moths ago. I saw her on a lost and found group, she needed a foster. I took her in and searched for her owners with no luck. She was found hungry and scared and with stitches in her ears still from having them cropped. (Her crop wasn't properly taking care of so now her ears look like a comb over and I LOVE IT) It is believed by one of her vets that most likely she was going to be used as a breeding dog by a back yard breeder, or for a show dog, but when her tail and ears didn't come out right they just opened the door and sent her on her way. So now that she is with me she gets all the love and care she needs. Including a genetic test for a blood clotting disorder, Von Willebrand Disease, that is common with Dobermans. Wouldn't you know it she came up positive. Not just positive but really positive. Most dogs that are positive retain over 50% of their clotting factors making it not that big of a deal really. Ava on the other hand is at 23% making a simple spay life threatening if not done with all the proper precautions. So thank god she isn't being used to breed and spread this nasty disease further through the breed. Also Dobermans are prone to a disease called Bloat. It is recommended to have their stomachs tacted in order to stop the stomach from twisting on itself and most likely killing the dog. With most dogs this is optional. With Ava, she needs so many special meds to have surgery that basically any emergency surgery she ever needs she will die from. There just won't be all the life saving meds she needs on hand to help her clot properly, and she will bleed out should she get bloat. So in order for that to be avoided they tac her stomach to the wall of her abdomen. So the estimate for her 2 in 1 surgery is $1400-$1800. This DOES NOT include the overnight stay at the ER they are recommending after surgery so that someone can check her every couple of hours and make sure she is healing properly and doesn't start bleeding. So that's her story here is mine and why I need financial help. First off that's a lot of money to swallow at one time. Second, I am not working right now because I am a Vet Tech student at Cosumnes River College in Elk Grove. I do the best I can to help and save all the animals I can. Occasionally I get in over my head and have to suck up a little pride and ask for help and this is one of those times.
