Steven J. Sallaz Cemetary Stone

This is my friend Stevie Sallaz. July 26, 1974 - April 28, 1993. He was from Campbell, Ohio. It is hard to believe that it has been almost 24 years since he passed away from a motorcycle accident. For the past 24 years I have been bothered by the fact that my friend still does not have a headstone at his gravesite. I do not blame anyone because I know how expensive a funeral is and how much the stones cost. I have always dreamed of being able to purchase my friend a stone, but it seems like I have just never had the extra money to do so. I know that many of Stevie's other friends have felt the same way. That is why after 24 years, I am still committed to giving my friend the marker he deserves. I want people to be able to walk by and see his name and know that a person is there.
It has been years since I have been to the cemetary to see my friend, but as I drove by today, something told me to go in. I trotted through the snow to an unmarked grave and paid my respects to a friend from long ago. It was then that I decided that I must follow through with this. I went to the office and checked on the status. They quoted me on headstones that they can set this spring.
For a basic stone with his name and only birth year and death year, the cost is $791.45. If we wanted a stone with his full birth date and date of death, along with some type of graphic on the stone, the cost would be $961.19.
I am looking to raise $1000.00 to give my friend the headstone he deserves. Once I collect at least half the money, the stone can be ordered and the balance will be due before they can put it in. Once it is done, I will post a picture of the stone and the receipt. I want people to know where the money went and that this is just not some type of scam.
I cannot explain why this has weighed heavily on my mind for the past 24 years, but it has and now I must act to do something about it. I hope I can count on everyone's help. We may not be able to individually afford such a cost, but together we can. It will only take 100 people to donate $10.00 each. I know Stevie had more friends than that. Let's do this!
