In April 2017, Steve Pelaez began his impossible recovery from being hit by a car while riding his bicycle. He spent two months in a coma, and four months in a hospital re-building his broken body and shattered brain. Doctors didn’t hold out much hope for Steve’s return to a meaningful life, but over the course of the past two years, our hero, Steve, has wowed them all.
Until now.
664 days after his tragic accident, Steve was diagnosed with cancer—Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Steve has been bedridden in chronic pain for a month, and faces another difficult challenge—battling traumatic brain injury and cancer together.
The financial burden of this tragedy is just one of the many challenges facing the Pelaez family. Fortunately, it is one that we can come together as a community and attempt to lessen. Many people have reached out with offers to contribute, so this site was set up as a response to the generous outpouring of support that is surrounding Steve and his family.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated, as it will allow the family to focus their energies on healing Steve. A lot of the help they need is not covered by insurance like: a home health aid since Steve needs 24/7 care, supplements, alternative healing therapies, CBD for pain and appetite, etc.
