Steven Jay Goldman Memorial at Sweetbriar

Donation protected
After moving to Long Island as a young boy, Steve immediately fell in love with Long Island's natural world. He spent countless days just roaming woods, beaches and ponds to see what he could find. He would bring home injured animals to care for, especially babies that had been separated from their mothers. To his parents' dismay, his home became a refuge to many creatures.

As an adult, Steve shared this love with his family. His wife and daughters always knew that they could count on him to know the name of any unfamiliar animal, bird or fish they came across. He fed the squirrels, chipmunks and birds that were fortunate to roam his home. He and his family would always laugh about how robust and well fed they looked. He built ponds in his backyard, rescued injured animals, and donated his time and money to non-profit places that shared his love for these creatures.

One of these places that is particularly close to the Goldman family's hearts is Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown, NY.  It is a place where his children spent their summers embracing nature just as he did when he was a child. He and his family loved to spend time there, attending events, volunteering to pick up turtles before they could mow for the Spring fair, and visiting the animals that were not able to be released back to nature and, therefore, called Sweetbriar their home. His daughters attended educational programs during the summer along with other programs throughout the year. Most of all, it was a place where they found comfort knowing they could always bring an injured bird or bunny to be cared for.

Sweetbriar would be a special place to honor Steve, remembering all the moments he and his family spent together there.  His wife, Rosemarie, along with his daughters, Erica and Sarah, will be making a contribution of at least $10,000 to create a memorial in his name.  In lieu of flowers, please consider helping them create this memorial for Steven Jay Goldman at Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown, New York.
