Dear Friends and Family,
Words cannot express how saddened we are about the passing of a dear husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Steven Der on Sunday October 7, 2018.
Steven Der was a mainstay at the volleyball courts wherever his daughters were playing. He is well-known and well-loved in the volleyball community. At any given tournament, you could find Steven on the back line, filming the game and encouraging the players. Many of us have stories about how Steven encouraged our daughters, taught them volleyball skills or just made them smile. He took the game seriously, but not as seriously as he took the friendships he built with those of us around the court. He would flash his trademark smile and have a kind word to say no matter the outcome of the game. He loved his daughters, Stephanie and Priscilla, and his wife, Selina, in a way that was obvious to all of us. The entire Der family welcomed so many of us to be part of their tight-knit clan. Steven was an ambassador of the game, the kindest of gentlemen and a friend to so many. He will be greatly missed!
