Stephond & Zoe: Ghana School
What's that have to do with us?
Stephond and Zoe got married (wahoo!) and in lieu of gifts, they are raising funds to build New Life a brand new, multi-faceted school building that will serve both the kiddies who live there, and the greater community which is currently lacking education infrastructure. Check out their featured wedding in New York Times Vows.
What's the backstory?
Zoe has been volunteering at New Life International since 2007 when she took a leave of absence from high school in exchange for living with a host family, attending Ghanaian school, and teaching at New Life. After a few months, New Life began to feel like home, and she was fortuante enough to return in 2009 and 2010 to continue volunteering.
Stephond and Zoe started dating in 2013, and Stephond is the world's most supportive partner who understands the impact that New Life has had on Zoe, and is excited to embark on this journey. They believe it's time to give back to the community that helped to shape Zoe, and what better way to start life together as married folks than raise money and build a school?
Where are the funds going?
Steph and Zoe will be traveling to Ghana to begin implementation of the building in February, 2016. Funds will go towards:
~Covering the cost of the trip
~Funding the building materials
~Paying fair wages for contracting and building services
We believe in everyone!
We have hefty goals that we would like to surpass, and it's only possible by your generous donations! Every single cent helps. Please note, for your contribution to make its full impact, a check, venmo, or paypal transaction is preferred. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are a good person, and we love you.
Last week, I turned 28! I want to thank everyone who gave during my donate-for-twenty-eight campaign, and for those who have donated in the past! On my birthday alone, we raised $989 thanks to your generosity. What an amazing day! The project continues to progress, and I know as a community we'll get there eventually! Thank you for your continued support, it truly means the world to New Life International, and to me.
Since the ramp up of fundraising began in 2016, Stephond and I have produced 3 successful variety shows raising over $3,000, sold thousands of dollars of Ghanaian art, and completed successful campaigns like Thousand Dollar Thursday raising over $1,000 from dozens of donors in under 24 hours.
With less than a $16,000 gap in fundraising to go, we're feeling more motivated than ever go get this project done! This week, we're launching a campaign to raise $10,000 by the end of December. All we need is 200 people to donate $50 and we're there! You can be part of this closing push to complete the school. You've been here from the beginning of our campaign, and we want you to be here to see it through to the end!
If $50 is too steep, don't worry because quite literally, every dollar counts. A donation of $5, $10, or $15 makes the hugest of differences. Remember, this is a fundraiser built on the power, generosity, and dedication of people like you and me making small, community based donations that are adding up to help another community in a HUGE way. ANY AMOUNT HELPS. No amount is too little. I frequently donate $5 to causes I believe in myself because let's be real, I'm certainly not rollin' in it.
Lastly, please share this message with anyone who can spare a few bucks and help build a school in Ghana. Your monetary contribution translates into a concrete (literally) cause with a global impact. Act now.
Love to all, sending gratitude and joy your way.
