*UPDATED THIS INFO IN LIGHT OF ALL THE SUDDEN NEW INTEREST*

After 15 years of declining health, in 2016 we finally had a breakthrough diagnosis: Lyme Disease.

The Chronic Fatugue Syndrome, the fibromyalgia, the arthritis, the epilepsy, the 7 miscarriages, the worsening vision and neurological problems, the tremors, and a whole host of other symptoms - it's all been because of this insidious disease.

The good news is we finally have an answer.
The bad news is it's going to be one heck of a fight.
Doctors knowledgeable in chronic/late stage Lyme are few and far between, and most treatments are not covered at all by insurance.

And so we find ourselves here: we had a coveted appointment this past fall to start intense treatment with a leading specialist in Idaho (one we have seen CURE people of seemingly hopeless cases of Lyme,) but the costs are astronomical. All of the bills for this particular doctor are due in full at treatment and are not billable like a traditional hospital might allow. Other supplementary treatments are sometimes able to be put on a payment plan, and we often take on debt to cover others.

So we are asking for help to raise funding specifically for medical bills. In the last three months alone we have spent over $9.1k on my healthcare already . Our out of pocket costs for the next year (just for me alone) are estimated to be another $20,000, and that's with us forgoing a number of recommended treatments and therapies to keep the costs down.

At the moment, we are already underwater on a number of previous bills, and will be unfortunately listing our home for sale by the summer in order to attempt to get our head above the waves a bit. We're heartbroken, especially since we're not just losing our first ever real HOME, we will also be losing our school district and the school at which our autistic son is now finally thriving. But unless we somehow stumbled into an additional 25k or so at this point, there's simply no way to keep our home AND keep getting treatment this year. It would literally bankrupt us. So please know, we aren't simply holding out our hands and asking others to carry us: we are TRYING. We are trying so very hard and making huge sacrifices to try to do this ourselves. We have given up so much over the last decade and we continue to try to find a way to make it all work somehow, but the bills are simply too big to somehow "budget" them in.

So we find ourselves totally dependent on supernatural provision and the generosity of others. We're so appreciative of any help we receive, and it's my most sincere wish to get my health to a place where I can be able to contribute back in a meaningful way to make up for this enormous investment into me. I don't want to be trapped by this disease anymore: I want to spend the rest of my life giving back for the many generous ways so many have you have poured into us over the years.

Thanks for your time reading this, your prayers as we take on this year of treatments head on, and your financial support if you're able to give it.

"And to Him to is able to do IMMEASURABLY MORE than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us."

We've hit a tipping point in which the bills for my healthcare are piling up, even with us skipping many of the recommended therapies and treatments because we simply can't afford them. It's wth a heavy heart we've realized we need to sell our home or face the very real risk of losing it. I won't lie: we're devastated , especially pulling Aidan from the school he has FINALLY made real friends at after years of learning how to do that. It's hard not to lose hope sometimes.

In the last three months we have spent over $9,100 on my health, with an estimated 15-20k of bills still to come this year. It's killing us We spent my entire book advance on health care within a week of receiving it, and so I'm essentially writing for the next year with no more income coming from it until 2018. Selling the house is our only option left, and even that doesn't guarantee we can get ahead and find financial stability going forward. We bought this house less than 3 years ago when we moved to Oregon, cutting our housing costs in half overnight, all in the hopes to make our finances work. And yet here we are again, circling the drain despite all of our efforts.

It's discouraging: we've been "going without" and being responsible for so many years, so that we can dedicate 10s of thousands of dollars each year to my care. And despite all of our effort, we're still drowning. We're still not getting any more of a handle on it.

I'm not sure what all this goes to say other than: a) we still deeply appreciate any help we can get. B) We absolutely are NOT sitting on our hands and waiting for donations to cover it. We've never sat idly by on this, and we won't start now. The house is going on the market by the time summer rolls around and there's little that can change that at this point.

We'd covet your prayers and we appreciate your generous support. God is still good, all the time, and we still believe that even now and even in this. Pray we keep the faith and don't lose hope.

The medical account is currently empty. We have about $500 in immediate costs coming up, and we are on a payment plan for a number of large and unexpected medical bills that hit over the winter. We deeply appreciate any further support.

My next follow up with the Idaho clinic is at the end of March.

Another $200 bill came up for diagnostic tests I need to bring with me to Idaho. We were able to pay for those tests thanks to the generations donations from folks to my Lyme account. We appreciate the fact you guys have made these expenses possible!

This leaves approximately $750 in the Lyme account since our last spending update. We are so grateful to everyone who has contributed.

Two updates today:

One, we got a second lab result that we can use to conclusively prove Lyme. It's hard to explain just how vindicating that is after so many doctors within kaiser treating us a bit like we're crazy to push this so hard. Proof positive from a lab result that says yes, my demon all these years really is Lyme. Of course Kaiser still refuses to admit it, and says the results are "inconclusive" at best by the way they choose to interpret them. So frustrating. But at this point we don't care, as long as we can still seek specialized care outside of kaiser. It's enough to have proof in our hands after so many years.

Item #2 is a bit of bookkeeping for transparency sake. GoFundMe required us to make the first withdrawal in order to keep this campaign open. After paying fees both to GoFund me and the payment processing company, there was a little over $1,000 deposited to a savings account only for treatment costs. Today we needed to make a withdrawal from that account to pay for just over $100 of home health devices and treatments as prescribed my new physical therapist. We are hoping we can get me less dependent on my cane and better able to be up out of bed and functional for the kids, since right now I'm down more days than I'm up. We are so appreciative of the support we've received to fund treatments because we wouldn't have been able to purchase the devices I was prescribed without your help at this time. This leaves us with around $900 in the health account with no immediate plans to make any further withdrawals until we go to Idaho. We will always keep this page updated about how funds are spent, as we want to be 100% honest and transparent with the money raised.

Thanks again for all the prayers and support. We are so well loved and we feel so undeserved of the outpouring of blessings to our family.
