Stephanie's March on Washington DC

Help send this Kootenay Coop Radio reporter to the Women's March in Washington DC on Jan 21, 2017.

I am the Outreach Coordinator with Kootenay Coop Radio in Nelson BC. I am also one of the hosts of Kootenay Morning, a news and current events show on KCR.

I was stunned watching the recent US presidential election play out the way it did. As a reporter, it fascinated me. As a woman and a feminist, it frightened and saddened me.

In Washington, DC, the day after the Presidential Inauguration, the Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to the new US government on their first day in office, and to the world that women's rights are human rights.

I want to be there to report on it. 

Women's voices need to be heard. The world needs to hear their stories, their hopes and their fears. We are women - Hear us Roar!

I do not have the means to personally finance this trip to Washington DC because of my low income. I am employed in a part-time position at a non-profit co-op. 

My goal in reaching out to the community with this gofundme campaign is to pay for my travel expenses to Washington, DC.  (flights, airport shuttles, taxis, accommodation, and travel insurance)

I will be representing 100s of other women I know who can't go for numerous reasons: family or job commitment, economics, or physical disability.

Any money raised above my goal of $2200 will be donated to the Nelson and District Women's Centre and Kootenay Coop Radio.
