Stephanie and the Boys

Stephanie is the proud  mother of four boys, ages 2, 4, 7 and 9. She is a 3rd grade teacher at an elementary school that her 2 older boys attend.  Recently, Stephanie was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer. She is receiving treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, which is about a 10-hour car trip, each way. While her spirit is always positive and uplifting, the treatment can be exhausting and leave her ill, making it impossible to travel at times. Stephanie and her mother are staying right outside of Mayo and she is receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments 5 days a week. The first part of her treatment will be over 5 weeks at Mayo and Stephanie is determined to win this battle and get back to the “Crew” at home.

The second part of her treatment will be surgery at Mayo in December with a week-long recovery, then back home for the holidays. She will begin the third round of treatment with chemotherapy in January, which the timeline is yet to be determined. Stephanie is a fighter and the strongest person I know. She has a long road ahead and will need to stay healthy during her treatments.
