Good morning All,
Evan received the funds from the Gofundme account last Thursday. The Berryessa Highlands Fire Safe Council met last night and the $4,790.19 raised, after Gofundme fees were deducted, is being divided between 7 families who lost their homes. Anyone interested in joining the Council and participating is welcome to contact Evan, Debbie Thrasher or myself on Nextdoor Berryessa.
Debbie is working on a website for the Council which will help clarify the purpose of the council, how you can assist to make our neighborhood safer, etc.
Napa County is offering Cert Training in January so stay tuned for information and PLEASE attend if you can. The better prepared we are as a neighborhood the greater our chances when the next fire affects us.
Best, Cynthia Marshall

Hello All,
Debbie Thrasher brought to my attention the fact that the victims of the Headlands fire have, to date, not received any distributions from this Go Fund Me account. In doing some research it appears the delay is to ensure the funds truly go to fire victims. Apparently since the Fire Safe Council does not have a bank account the funds were set up by Evan to go to his personnel account and then be distributed. This set off a red flag and until some questions are answered the distribution of funds kept getting postponed. Go fund Me has requested the following information to be posted on this page to advise all who donated how the funds are being handled before they will release the funds.
The questions asked are:
1) How Evan is related to the fund?
Answer: he is a member of the Lake Berryessa Fire Safe council who started the fund
2) Is Evan withdrawing the funds in his name?
Answer: Yes, the Fire safe council does not have a bank account so Evan is withdrawing to his personnel account
3) How Evan will distribute the funds to the beneficiaries?
Answer: However they would like, Cash or Check. Debbie Thrasher is currently contacting one of the families who lost their home to get an update on who is in need and how they would like the funds distributed.

Once again a very big Thank You to all who gave to this fund. And as big a Thank You to all who gave their time helping the families who lost their homes with pet care, clean up detail, moral support, offers of donations, etc.

The Steele fire hit closer to home then the Northern California Fires which started one a year ago today. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance if you were a victim of this fire. Best, Cynthia Marshall
