$2,000 of $2,000 goal

Update (12/06/2016): The pipeline construction has been stopped for now--such a huge victory for humanity! But we have just received word that medical support is still urgently needed, so we will still be headed there this Thursday as planned. But, we are celebrating right now. Thanks to all of you for your continued support!

Dr. Hannah Mclane and Nathanael Totushek are heading to Standing Rock to provide medical support and would love your help!

There is only ONE physician currently signed up to run the medical tent in the Standing Rock camp the weekend of December 9th to the 11th.

SO, due to this emergency need for more medical personnel and support, we will be travelling to Standing Rock from December 8-12th to help.

What will we do? Well, Hannah (aka Dr. McLane) will be helping people who need medical attention, and meanwhile Nate (aka 'Reliable Nate') will be doing supply runs and providing assistance in whatever way possible.

We will be renting an SUV or minivan while there in order to conduct supply / water runs and provide rides to and from the hospital for anyone who is injured (but not injured severely enough to require an ambulance, of course).

Finally, we hope to film the experience in order to add to the effort to show the world exactly what is going on from the ground.

We are aiming for $2000 to help get us there. Our cost estimate breaks down as follows:

Airfare ($850)
SUV or van rental ($350)
Gas ($200)
Portable camera ($300)
As well as any food, water, and medical supplies that may be needed ($300).

Any additional or unused funds we receive will be donated directly to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the Oceti Sakowin Camp, and used to to buy additional medical supplies.

If you haven't already, please click here to read about some of the medical issues that have been affecting those at the camp, including tear gas, rubber bullets, and water hoses being used at below freezing temperatures, causing hypothermia.

Dearest friends and family - thank you for you help with our Standing Rock medical campaign! We just reached our goal of $2000 today, yippee!! Due to the recent blizzard in North Dakota and unpredictable road closures into camp, we have decided to postpone our trip - we will choose the future date based on need of the camp. This weekend they are no longer so short-staffed and many are snowed-in. We spoke to a medic on the ground yesterday who described an urgent need for medical supplies, so we have sent half of the funds to the Medic Council today as temperatures have reached -20 degrees and hypothermia supplies are needed. We will keep you posted!

Wow everybody, it has been an amazing couple days. As you are probably aware, the easement to allow pipeline construction across Lake Oahe has been officially denied, so that is a huge deal. Among all the other things this means, it means that Energy Transfer Partners and Sunoco Logistics can't continue construction without incurring at least some pretty hefty fines. But, as they have publicly declared an intention to continue construction in spite of this, the protest camps must remain active.

We have just received word that medical support is still urgently needed, so we will still be headed there this Thursday as planned. But, we are celebrating right now. Thanks to all of you for your continued support!

These water protectors and veterans, as well as the thousands of fundraisers and demonstrations building support in one way or another across the country, and all of you who have helped us in our tiny, tiny effort thus far, you all make me proud to be part of humanity. And that is a very needed feeling these days. Thanks!
