Dancer's first steps to healing
Sadly, those dreams were destroyed when a sudden dance injury hurt my back and legs terribly. Years of battling later, it's still a struggle to pick things up off the floor or tie my shoes, if I get it done at all. I recently hurt my wrists as well, and can barely type while using wrist splints for support. I also hurt my voice so badly that I was on vocal rest for three weeks, and now visit my voice teacher twice a week in order to speed up the healing process, increasing the financial burden.
My mother and father would love to help me with any money they have, but that's not much, as they just separated and have always given much of their income to my voice and dance lessons. I currently have an on- campus job, but that doesn't even cover the 100-200 dollars I spend each week on doctor bills ( on top of the couple thousand I already owe), let alone food/gas/etc. I am currently living with my dad to help cover expenses, but it's still not enough.
Any donation you provide will go into a separate account directly for my doctor bills. In addition, ten percent of anything you donate will go to a charity for supporting injured dacners in finding the help that they need.*
I consider all of these injuries a gift, and I am learning from them every day. I know that these experiences will only make me stronger artist, and that, in the end, I will be all the better for having lived, no, thrived, through this.
Please, donate, and help me get back to musical theater, an art that I love more than anything in the world, maybe even myself.
Anything, even a dollar, is an incredible help.
Have a great day; I hope reading about me pursuing my dreams despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles has encouraged you to do the same.
Live your dreams,
p.s. Be sure to check back for video updates, progress pics, or just to donate. Thank you again!
* I still haven't found a charity that is concurrent with my goals, if you know of one, please message me. Thanks.
Heres to us dancing the night away together all too soon!)
