Stage 4 cancer dad, raising future fund for kids

Donation protected
In 2017 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer at the age of 35, with 3 young children under six.  You can wade through the full history & latest updates here .

After radiation, chemo and several surgeries over the course of 2017/2018 I was in remission.  In January 2019 they found a recurrence of cancer in my liver. After more surgery, I'm back at work, hoping that - against the odds - it doesn't come back.

I frequently have people asking how they can assist me and I always politely decline. I am very fortunate to have a great employer and great insurance, so we've generally wanted for nothing during my treatment, despite managing a big income reduction during my periods of leave.

Recently, as my prognosis has worsened, I've been thinking more and more about my kids. While I know they will be financially secure if I leave them early I am also very conscious that cancer is going to prevent me from setting them up for life to anywhere near the extent that I had hoped.

For this reason I'm going to stop saying "no thanks". If you really want to help then please don't make a donation to me, but rather make a donation to the trust fund I have established for my kids future education.
