Stability for my little family

$305 of $2,000 goal

Andrea McDonough  CHICAGO, IL
I don't have a photo of our family unit all together, so I put up a picture of our littlest member, Kohl. Our story has been going on for years as our friends know, but it has reached a pinnacle with no way toward solid ground except to network for help.

My little family consists of myself, a former nonprofit development professional from Chicago; my best friend of 20 years, who is disabled due to a serious neurological disorder; and my 15-year-old cat Kohl who is her "little nurse" for emotional support.

My friends have been wonderful helping over the years for us to gain stability.  There was a period of time where we were on our feet again; unfortunately due to my job loss in a high rent area, we were back to trying to find home again. My best friend cannot go into a homeless shelter because of her medical condition so we are living in our van, paying for a room whenever we can find the help or the means. That's the Catch-22...scrambling every day to find a place to sleep, without any real long term solutions. Her condition keeps getting worse; she is not ill enough to be hospitalized but not at all well enough to be sleeping in a vehicle.   We need help to pay for a permanent place to stay.

I have been contacted through Indeed and LinkedIn for interviews on the east coast, so that is our preference. That said, we are willing to go wherever there is safe housing. I have a solid resume and I am not averse to taking whatever job I can to be independent.   We just need help for gas, food and first month rent upfront in order to make something happen.  At the moment we are staying at a campground with no funds at all.

Anything that will help us achieve home is beyond appreciated.

Thank you, and bless you for taking time out for us today.

We were put on hold again, still waiting for the apartment to be available, so we need all the help we can get to pay the bill for the campground where we are staying. We are three days behind thanks to the kind owners who let us stay with agreement to pay today. Also at this time we have run out of funds for gas. With so much hope and gratitude, I ask for whatever help you can offer. If not monetarily, remember that sharing is just as important... As is a kind, encouraging word. Thank you!

We have three nights left where we are staying, and need all the help we can get to be able to stay. We will also need basics like gas and meals for the road. Thank you to those who have been so generous and compassionate, not only with donations, but with your words of encouragement and love. Please keep sharing. We are almost out of this. <3

Thanks to a special angel for helping us network, we have found an apartment outside of Chicago. Waiting on the move-in date for this week or next. In the meantime we have to maintain, so any help is truly necessary. Thank you to those who have helped us so far and in advance for those who will!
